Welcome to Fourth Grade! Dear Families, Welcome to fourth grade at PS 11! We are so thrilled to be your child’s teachers and we know this will be an awesome year! For your child’s journey to be successful, it is essential for us to understand that each child is a unique individual with special qualities and needs. With the support of students and families, we will create a classroom environment that will recognize and respect individuality. To support each student’s learning, we will create a classroom that offers a variety of meaningful teaching styles so that each child will have the opportunity to succeed. The children will grow and learn at their own rate. We invite you to play an active role in your child’s education by talking with your child each day about their learning, reading together every night, and communicating with us. We want there to be open communication between us. If at anytime you have a question, we will be happy to talk with you. Please write us a note and put it in your child’s folder. We will try to respond as soon as possible. I want you to feel well informed throughout the year. Each day your child will bring home his/her Homework Folder. Your child’s Homework Folder will contain his/her work for the day, notes, and homework. Please check your child’s backpack daily for important letters and notes. This can be a hard habit to get started, but well worth it! Thanks in advance!! Snack: Only nutritional foods such as fruit, cheese, crackers, pretzels, or yogurt are allowed. PLEASE DO NOT send in candy, sweets, sandwiches, lunchables, etc for snack time. Also, I only allow water in the classroom. Your child will be able to keep their own water bottle in the classroom. Dismissal: Please fill out the dismissal forms from the school. Children who take the bus, will be put on the bus unless we have been notified in writing that they are being picked up. For security reasons, we ask that you bring identification to enter the school building. School starts at 8:10 and goes to 2:30. We dismiss at exit 17/18 on Skillman Ave.. Read! Read! Read! Read with your child as much as possible. This special time is critical to successful literacy development Welcome again to a wonderful year!!!!!!!!! Sincerely, Mrs. Collins Ms. Sodomsky Teachers of Class 406 |
